Your data and closing your account

What we hold

Your sign-in details, your profile, the orders you have placed with us on eBay, anything you have written to us, and your place on the newsletter if you asked for it. The Privacy Policy is the full account of what we collect, who we share it with, and how long each kind is kept.

What you can ask for

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, send you a copy, correct something that is wrong, or delete it. We answer those requests the same way for everyone, wherever you live. Send us a request from the address on your account, and we may check a detail or two before we answer. For the sale-and-sharing opt-out, go to Your Privacy Choices.

Closing your account

Open Preferences and select Delete my account. The page asks for your password, the word DELETE typed in full, and a code from your authenticator app if you have two-factor turned on. It cannot be undone.

What stays after you close it

  • Order and tax records. We keep these after you close the account. The Privacy Policy states how long.
  • Your newsletter subscription. Unsubscribe before you close the account if you want off both.
  • Anything you bought on eBay. That order lives in your eBay account, under eBay's policies.
